Craig Howell can boast of being GLAA's answer to Grover Cleveland, having served as GLAA President in 1975-76 and again in 1999 (his term ending on January 1, 2000). A native Washingtonian, he joined GLAA in October 1973 and has served in many capacities ever since, specializing in human rights enforcement, Council and Mayoral elections, and public safety issues. Craig, a Georgetown University alumnus (graduating one year ahead of Bill Clinton) and a U.S. Army veteran (1969-71), retired from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in 1994. Since then he has found a new career as a nationally-known Civil War battlefield tour guide. He is currently serving both as Coordinator for the outdoors group Adventuring and as President of the Chrysalis Arts & Culture Group of Washington. He is currently GLAA Secretary.
